A Collection of Words From the Winter
Waking up early now, finding myself on the open road, on my bike at 5 am.

How have I gotten to know this city so well? When did everything become so familiar, and so dear to me?

It’s tempting to want to categorize your life into tidy little lists and bite sized chunks on your calendar.
Recently I’ve been finding the best version of myself when I throw the lists out the window and let a little bit of chaos in. When I let go and let the world unfold like it’s supposed to is when I find the most peace. When I stop trying to multi task and start counting the number of beautiful things I see when I’m stopped at a red light.

I’ve always loved winter most.
I’ve always loved,
This, the falling snow.
The flowers at the side of my desk I bought just for me.
The 7 pictures I sent to my best friend out in Colorado, just like I do every week
Tea is growing on me, like peace does.
Stillness in a world where I’ve only known movement.
—
Sometimes i feel like my life consists of nothing but lists. Sometimes I’m a person too, with words constantly flickering in and out of my mind.
You can do anything you want in this world. But first you must learn to ask for help.
Then you have to believe you deserve it.

Find what lights your soul on fire, and fight like hell for it.
Whether it’s a love, a friend, a job, a sport, a hobby, or a city. Just find it, and run it down.
Listen to your intuition, if nothing else.

The sun is rising in the east over the plains. My entire heart lies in this state, with these people, in those mountains.
—
And oh how grateful I am to have a body that tells me when it’s had enough, and a heart whispering quiet under it all, where to go next.
