Early Mornings
If you wake up in the early morning, it’s like taking a plunge into cold water to start your day. You wake up and everything’s dark and quiet. You tiptoe around your house, trying not to wake anyone up, splash your face with some water, put on your shoes and while you’re still trying to wipe the sleep from your eyes you’re outside and you’re running, or you’re biking, or walking or whatever you do at this hour. It’s quiet outside, and, unless you’re very lucky, it’s dark and it’s probably cold. No one else is around, it’s just you and the sound of your breath.
This is an hour for the dreamers, for fresh starts. It’s for the heartbroken, the early risers, the parents, healthcare workers, trade workers, commuters, and those that just want one more hour in their day.
There is nothing easy about this hour. At 5:30 am there is no hiding from yourself. There is no hiding from whatever it is you are running from that has you up so early. It’s just you and yourself, out in the cold, chasing the whole world down.
